Prior to working with Mary Jo, I was in a cyclical process of restrictive and binge eating. I worked out 6 days a week for several hours, ate “healthy,” and indulged on the weekends. I came to a place of extreme negativity and self-hatred, to the point where I didn’t want to go out or socialize with others.⁣ When I first met Mary Jo, I was nervous to be honest about my habits and felt vulnerable opening up; I was so pleasantly surprised at her level of understanding and constant encouragement. Mary Jo was so incredibly patient with me, teaching me about macros, about a healthy and positive mindset, about balance, and about the important of enjoying food and not beating yourself up when you indulge. Her guidance has been paramount to the progress I’ve made. Not only have I physically transformed, exercised more efficiently and eaten enough, but the way I view food and my body is so drastically different. I have come treat/speak to myself with more respect and patience than ever before. ⁣Choosing Mary Jo as my coach has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my overall well-being!

I have always been heavier. I’d work hard for a month, lose a few pounds, then quit when I got bored. But somehow with macros and Mary Jo’s coaching it finally clicked with my body that this is how I lose weight. Not only that, I am on the road for work about 50% of the time. So to have MJ helping me learn how to be anywhere, with any type of food offered and know how to “make it work” is the most liberating lesson. I finally love working out and how fit and proud of feel of myself everyday.

I never really knew where to start with getting myself on the right track for a healthy lifestyle- Mary Jo changed that! The personalized macros, quick workouts I could do at home, and unlimited motivation and encouragement really got me started in changing my life. She always was (and still is) available to answer all the questions I have, and starting out I had soooo many of them. Mary Jo and the challenge groups have changed my life. I’ve started, completed, and quit so many different things before but NOTHING can compare to this. Mary Jo is amazing. She is supportive, encouraging, and tough when you need it! Her advice is practical and so helpful when trying to figure out how to balance it all. If you need that extra push, give Mary Jo 8 weeks of your time. The time will go by no matter what. You might as well pass it with supportive women and change your life.

I followed Mary Jo for awhile before reaching out because I was so nervous. I knew I needed a change for myself and saw all of the progress women from her challenges made so I figured I could try it for the 8 weeks and had nothing to lose- except some weight! I was still nervous to begin and a little intimidated of the Facebook group but it turned out to be one of the best parts of the challenge! I loved being able to share ideas, thoughts, worries, and success with everyone else who was going through the same thing as me. My other favorite part of the challenge was the support I got from Mary Jo. She was always available whenever I needed help or encouragement and made me feel comfortable and like I mattered to her. I really cannot thank her enough for her help with accomplishing my goal of losing weight. I also accomplished a goal I didn’t realize I had- regaining my confidence! It is an amazing feeling to be comfortable in my body again and to feel like I can do anything I want to. For anyone who’s nervous to reach out like I was, it’s okay and natural to be scared of the unknown or afraid of failure, but it really is the best thing you can do for yourself!

I am so grateful to have worked with Mary Jo! She is such an encouragement and motivator. She has helped me change my outlook with food and to be able to enjoy it. I used to feel if I took a bite of anything “I’m not supposed too” I could feel it packing on. With Mary Jo’s help, I learned how to track my macros and see where I was eating too much or not enough of. I learned food wasn’t kept in categories of “should’s” and “should nots.” Learning what my body needs for my goals was something I needed. I was in a spot where I was frustrated and confused by my body. Now I know what my body needs and how to reach my goals. Without Mary Jo’s help I would have still been frustrated and confused. I have so much freedom now in the way I look at food. Thank you Mary jo for all you have done and all the encouragement you have given to me!

I could write a novel on all I’ve gotten and continue to get from Mary Jo and the challenge groups! I am the happiest I’ve been in a long time because I’ve learned to cut myself some slack WHILE pursuing my physical goals! October 2017 when I started my first fitness challenge with Mary Jo I had no clue the REAL results I would see. Before the challenge I was very active in the gym I just didn’t eat nutritious foods, and the correct portion sizes to see a difference on my body. I was introduced to macros for the first time by MaryJo, and it was a game changer. She gave me exact Protein, Fat, and Carbs to consume each day. Through MyFitnessPal I was able to organize my food thru my phone, scan barcodes at the grocery store, and find at the end of the evening just enough macros to have a little icecream. The support you get from the challenge girls is heartwarming, and motivational! Also the way the workouts are organized it is so easy just to look at the morning of as your doing them. Mary Jo I cannot THANK YOU enough for all your help on my fitness journey. I plan to take advantage of any challenge you have!

Mary Jo and and her dedication to helping women see themselves in a positive way is so refreshing! I believe she found her calling when she started helping people reach their fitness goals. Who doesn’t love to look and feel their best? Am I right?! MJ does both. She personalized macros to help me reach my body image goals, and she helped me love myself with her positive words and encouragement. She’s never disappointed in you which makes it easy to continue if you have a slip-up with your macros. It’s SO NICE to talk to people on the private Facebook and Instagram pages going through the exact same thing. The accountability along with yummy new recipes that are shared between the group makes it fun to count macros instead of annoying like a chore. If you’re having trouble reaching your own fitness and body image goals, I highly HIGHLY recommend talking and working with Mary Jo one-on-one, or with one of her challenge groups!

Preface: Self satisfaction can never be achieved through physical appearance. True self-worth and contentment comes from our Creator, alone. That being said, I have had a passion for fitness for years. I’m also a former NPC bikini competitor and prior to Mary Jo’s Fall Fitness Challenge, I assumed I knew everything there was to know about diet, exercise, and healthy living. I was feeling stuck in my fitness journey and falling into unhealthy habits. Although I wasn’t what most would consider overweight, I just felt...YUCK. I initially joined the challenge for accountability purposes; I needed someone to answer to and a goal to work towards. I definitely got accountability! I had previously assumed that counting macros was restrictive and stressful. As the challenge went on, I discovered that the exact opposite was true. I learned that progress CAN be achieved without a strict diet. I not only lost several pounds, but I also learned to manage cravings, and manipulate my macros in a way that would allow me to eat at least one “treat” everyday. Mary Jo seriously changed my outlook on healthy eating. It IS doable and it does not have to be a miserable process! Mary Jo is the kindest soul you will ever meet, and her knowledge base of healthy living is out of this world. I would absolutely recommend joining her next challenge!!

I decided to join Mary Jo in one of her challenge groups after having my first baby. I was feeling defeated and negative about my body and needed a change. The scale intimidated me and I felt a lack of control with food. From the very beginning of the challenge, Mary Jo provided me with the confidence to “crush my goals” and constantly reassured me when I struggled with my inner body image demons. She answered all of my questions and concerns with positivity and love! Most importantly, Mary Jo helped me to find a balance in my life. She helped me to see that I can easily fit macros into my daily life and find time to workout at home, while still being a hardworking teacher and loving (and tired) new mom. I can now take care of myself while taking care of my family thanks to Mary Jo’s guidance. Her support and friendship are invaluable. I reached my weight loss goal (for now), found my self confidence again, and gained a new friend that fills my life with so much positive energy.

I joined Mary Jo’s 8 week challenge to get back to a happy balance of life and fitness. During the challenges I have had many ups and downs but still made progress. After having kids I gained weight and for the past six years I’ve been dieting and exercising off and on to lose weight. I’ve been successful in losing weight but the moment I looked at food again, I would gain it all back! I could never find something I could stick with. I heard about the challenge from a friend and wanted to try it. With Macros, I can still eat “bad foods” in moderation so I don’t feel like I’m always missing out on all the goodies! I have lost weight and learned how I can maintain a healthy lifestyle even after this challenge ends. What has stuck with me most is if/when you have a bad diet day, just get back on track the next day. Before this, one bad day could ruin a weeks worth of dieting for me! I’m so grateful for all the guidance and motivation given by Mary Jo and the whole challenge group!

What anyone will tell you after they’ve made fitness progress is that it takes time and this couldn’t be more true. The difference in my before and after photos isn’t a couple days or weeks, but 7 months of ups and downs, loss of motivation and re-commitments and Mary Jo has been there every step of the way! I couldn’t be more grateful to have someone like her leading the way to becoming healthier and happier. I started with her 8 week holiday challenge and while it was definitely difficult at first learning how to count macros and get through tough workouts, it was the perfect way to jump start my motivation to be healthier both physically and mentally with the support of all the girls going through it with me. I continued working with Mary Jo after the challenge and learned the ‘real life’ and ‘sustainability’ aspects of this kind of lifestyle and now it’s become almost second nature. I miss the gym when I don’t get to workout, but only because I enjoy going now, and it’s not the end of the world when I have pizza for dinner on a Friday night. Mary Jo never fails to tell me how proud she is of me, but I can’t wait until these “after” photos are my new “before” photos.

I have been working with Mary Jo on and off for 2 years & I can’t imagine my life without her! She is such a precious, kind, and loving person. Her positivity is contagious & her heart is so big!
